Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors degree in an engineering field, computer science, or physics - Minimum of 2 years experience in designing and executing projects in industrial automation, robotics, or systems programming (internship and project experience is relevant) - Proficient in solving intricate problems with straightforward solutions during design and implementation phases - Extensive experience in software development for electro-mechanical system automation - Familiarity with programming, design, and commissioning of industrial robotic systems (e.g., Kuka, ABB, or Fanuc) - Knowledge of PLC programming using structured text with tools like Beckhoff TwinCat 3 or Siemens TIA Portal - Experience with high-level programming languages such as Python, C#, C++, or similar - Competence in developing machine vision systems for inspection purposes - Strong electrical engineering background with the ability to troubleshoot electrically using tools like multimeters and oscilloscopes - Experience in configuring and debugging network and fieldbus systems - Knowledge in motion system sizing and implementation, including gantries, robotics, conveyance, motors, actuators, pneumatics/hydraulics, and sensor integration - Understanding of industry standards such as IEC, NFPA, NEC - Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, lifting, and carrying up to 30 lbs unassisted - Willingness to work extended hours and/or weekends to meet critical milestones - Must be available to work onsite in Hawthorne, CA; remote work is not an option

Responsibilities

- Spearhead the design and creation of intricate in-house automated manufacturing and testing systems from conception through production, particularly focusing on electrical and software aspects - Develop and design motion control and robotic systems to address manufacturing and testing requirements - Write and sustain machine automation software that is clear and well-documented - Create simple user interfaces/HMIs that facilitate ease of understanding, operation, and troubleshooting of machines - Design electrical and pneumatic systems suitable for manufacturing environments - Oversee the assembly, integration, testing, and validation of electrical and fluidic systems - Architect and implement the integration of manufacturing equipment into SCADA and MES systems - Offer expert support for existing automation systems and collaborate with partner teams to address root causes of issues
