Requirements
Must:
- Masters or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Structural Engineering, Computational Mechanics, Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Geomechanics, or a related engineering discipline
- 1 year of relevant work experience required with a Masters, no experience required with a PhD
- 0-5 years of experience/training in fracture mechanics, fatigue crack growth assessment, and continuum mechanics
- 0-5 years of experience/training in software development processes for scientific computing, including version control and optimization
- 0-5 years of experience in stress-intensity factor solutions, fatigue crack growth algorithms, and time-dependent crack growth
- 0-5 years of experience in customer issue resolution, legacy code support, and utilizing ML/AI tools
- Valid and clear drivers license required
Responsibilities
- Lead the ongoing development and enhancement of fatigue crack growth software programs: NASGRO and DARWIN
- Oversee test campaigns for precision and consistency of predictions in high-stakes commercial software
- Innovate and develop practical methods for damage tolerance assessments
- Focus on enhancing memory efficiency, optimizing computational performance, and simplifying analysis of large data sets
- Address user-reported issues promptly by determining root causes and implementing necessary fixes
- Collaborate with a large development team for coordinated issue resolution within an extensive, interconnected codebase
- Engage with clients, stakeholders, and development teams to ensure software documentation and usage meets industry standards
- Author reports and papers on novel technical solutions
- Manage projects and tasks to ensure they are completed within defined scope, budget, and timelines
- Spearhead initiatives for optimizing software development and execution
