Requirements
Must:
- I am looking for candidates with at least 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure roles, preferably within a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Cloud Certified, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, CCNA, or Linux+ will be advantageous.
- Proficiency in operating systems such as Linux (Ubuntu or Red Hat) and Windows Server, along with familiarity with virtualization platforms like VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V, is essential.
- Experience with networking hardware, including Meraki, Catalyst, Aruba, and Unifi, is required.
- I expect a strong grasp of IP, WAN, LAN, VPN, VLANs, and firewall configurations.
- You should have a solid background in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and backup/BCDR systems (Datto, Axcient, Veeam), with experience in S3-based object storage being a plus.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 services, including user management, licensing, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams is expected.
- Strong scripting skills in PowerShell and/or Python are essential.
- Excellent troubleshooting abilities, strong documentation practices, and communication skills are a must.
- You must be legally permitted to work in Canada and possess a valid Canadian driver’s license along with the ability to travel to client sites.
- An RCMP Criminal background check is required.
- You should be capable of safely lifting and transporting equipment such as servers, network gear, and rack-mounted hardware (up to 50 lbs).
- Bilingual candidates (English/French) will be considered an asset.
- I appreciate a positive attitude with the ability to multitask and work effectively in a team setting.
Responsibilities
- I will have you identify opportunities for optimizing and enhancing infrastructure.
- You will lead and support infrastructure assessments, project scoping, and implementation.
- Coordination and execution of customer infrastructure projects will be part of your role.
- You will be responsible for creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation of systems and processes.
- Collaboration with internal teams and clients to implement high-quality solutions will be expected.
- I will assign you to monitor and maintain our IT infrastructure, including servers, workstations, networks, storage, hardware, software, security, and cloud platforms.
- You will provide Tier 2/3 escalation support for complex technical issues.
- Administration and optimization of both physical and virtual environments will be part of your tasks.
- Planning and executing backup and business continuity/disaster recovery (BCDR) strategies will also be entrusted to you.
- You will configure and maintain network infrastructure, including wireless access points, switches, routers, and firewalls.
- A strong familiarity with TCP/IP stack protocols will be important as you configure routing protocols, VLANs, and subnetting.
- Maintaining network security systems such as intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS) will be necessary.
- You will implement and manage DNS filtering and email security tools.
- Deployment and management of endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools such as SentinelOne, Huntress, and Bitdefender will be essential.
- Utilizing Syslog and SNMP protocols with SIEM platforms to support system monitoring, alerting, and security event analysis will be part of your role.
- Lastly, you will deploy and manage cloud platforms, particularly Azure and AWS, while developing and maintaining automation scripts using Python and PowerShell.

We are Southampton Solutions, a hands-on Managed Service Provider (MSP) dedicated to maximizing our clients' IT systems. As we expand our client base, we are looking for an accomplished IT Infrastructure Specialist to join our growing team. This position is full-time and located on-site in Moncton, NB. The salary for this role can be up to $75,000 annually, depending on your experience and certifications. We provide a supportive work environment featuring competitive compensation, RRSP matching, and health benefits. We also promote continuous professional development through reimbursement for certification costs. You may occasionally need to be flexible with your hours and travel outside of regular business hours, as on-call support will be required on a rotating schedule.
