Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years of on-air experience, with at least 3 years as a meteorologist preferred
- Proficient forecasting abilities with a clear and relatable on-air demeanor
- Experience or strong enthusiasm for anchoring and hosting in a community-oriented format
- Proven passion for digital storytelling and engaging with audiences
- Aptitude for communicating weather information in an authentic, relevant, and community-focused manner
- Willingness to work early morning hours and respond effectively in fast-paced news situations
- Commitment to our core values and weather philosophy
Responsibilities
- Deliver precise and captivating weather forecasts during morning newscasts
- Regularly serve as an on-air anchor and contributor for ARC programming on KUNP, nurturing a community-oriented morning show
- Provide on-air support or anchoring for KATU morning newscasts when needed
- Develop and share weather-impact stories that resonate with our ARC mission
- Lead digital-first weather coverage, offering frequent updates for web, app, and social media platforms
- Produce in-depth weather content that elucidates trends, impacts, and evolving conditions beyond everyday forecasts
- Create concise videos, graphics, and written content tailored for mobile and social audiences
- Supply calm and authoritative coverage during breaking and severe weather events, including live cut-ins
- Collaborate effectively with producers, reporters, and digital teams across KATU and KUNP
- Represent the station professionally on-air, online, and at community events
