Requirements
Must:
- Strong experience as a Solution Architect with Kong
- Proficient with Google Cloud Platform
- Expertise in Terraform
- Solid knowledge of GKE Kubernetes
- Ability in Shell scripting
- Familiarity with APIGEE
- Minimum of 10 years in integration and API architecture with at least 2 enterprise API gateway programs
- Experience with Kong Konnect Gateway architecture, decK, declarative config, workspaces, RBAC
- Understanding of security patterns such as mTLS, OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, API keys, rate limiting, WAF, and secrets/certificate management
- Knowledge of cloud and on-prem Google Cloud Platform (VPC, load balancing), Linux, and networking fundamentals
- Familiarity with observability integration (Dynatrace logging), audit, and compliance controls
- Understanding of CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code principles (Git, Git branching, Terraform pipelines)
- Experience with Apigee Kong migration programs and multi-org multi-region topologies (good to have)
- Knowledge of SRE/Chaos resiliency patterns and service meshes like Istio or Linkerd (good to have)
- Skills in cost/performance optimization and capacity sizing for high TPS gateways (good to have)
Responsibilities
- Manage the complete architecture for Kong Konnect and Kong Gateway, covering both on-premise and Google Cloud Platform
- Lead architecture review board assessments and define target architecture including security, high availability, disaster recovery (HADR), observability, and performance scalability
- Develop and establish API governance standards, implementing a design-first approach and overseeing lifecycle management
- Collaborate with Security, Network, Infrastructure, and Product teams to ensure alignment and comprehensive architectural integrity
