Requirements
Must:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with a strong focus on precise documentation and staff collaboration.
- Bachelors degree in engineering or a related technical discipline with at least 10 years of experience in systems engineering, software engineering, or a comparable field; or a Masters degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in implementing systems engineering processes in a governance, oversight, or staff context.
- Solid background in software-based systems engineering, with a track record of assessing designs, managing risks, and providing recommendations based on tradeoff analyses.
- Knowledge of Army systems and operational environments, such as Nett Warrior and Tactical Networks.
- Experience with requirements management and program support tools, including Jira and Jama.
- Proficient in collaborating with DoD or federal clients, especially in staff coordination and decision support roles.
- Ability to convert user requirements and technical dialogues into structured documentation and actionable project artifacts.
- Preferred Experience:
- Involvement with defense acquisition programs (ACAT II/III) from a systems engineering or program support standpoint.
- Familiarity with DoD program management and contracting processes (DAWIA PM, PMP, or equivalent).
- Application of disciplined systems engineering methodologies (INCOSE, CMMI).
- Understanding of RMF, CSfC, and cybersecurity protocols at an oversight and coordination level.
- Experience with architecture frameworks (DoDAF/UAF) and maintaining engineering artifacts at the program level.
- Background in sectors pertaining to AI/ML, UAS, enterprise mobility, or tactical networks with a focus on oversight and integration.
Responsibilities
- Assist Program Office Leadership and Program Execution teams by shaping technical strategies, compliance documentation, and requirements traceability, emphasizing the accuracy of documentation and stringent processes.
- Provide staff-level systems engineering leadership to enhance project execution, including:
- Management and traceability of requirements.
- Development and upkeep of Operational Views (OV).
- Creation and control of Interface Control Documents (ICD) and change management.
- Oversight of risk, configuration, and verification/validation processes.
- Develop, maintain, and oversee system architecture artifacts, engineering records, and program baselines to support governance and decision processes.
- Act as a bridge between technical teams, program management, and leadership to ensure clarity regarding scope, assumptions, risks, and dependencies.
- Facilitate technical reviews, milestone events, and customer interactions focusing on processes, documentation, and compliance.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to systems engineering procedures, standards, and best practices across various programs.
- Mentor junior engineers and participate in initiatives for process enhancement and standardization throughout the organization.
