Requirements
Must:
- A high school diploma or equivalent; experience in the hospitality industry or a related field is essential.
- A minimum of one year of progressive experience in a hotel or similar setting is preferred.
- Completion of trade school and/or college coursework in a relevant field is beneficial.
- Flexibility with long hours may be necessary.
- Must be capable of lifting over 100 pounds occasionally, over 50 pounds frequently, and over 20 pounds regularly.
- Proficient in both verbal and written communication, demonstrating attentiveness and courtesy to employees and guests.
- Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns raised by staff and patrons.
- Skills in multitasking and prioritizing departmental responsibilities to meet deadlines.
- Approaching all interactions with guests and employees with friendliness and a service-oriented mindset.
- Regular attendance aligned with Highgate Hotel Standards, adaptable to the hotels scheduling needs.
- High standards regarding personal appearance, including proper uniform and nametag adherence.
- Compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to support safe and efficient operations.
- A proactive approach to identifying and solving problems, including anticipating potential issues.
Responsibilities
- Conduct repairs on hotel air conditioning systems, including changing filters, cleaning coils, and replacing motors.
- Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment, such as boilers, chillers, and HVAC systems.
- Take necessary readings on equipment and test cooling towers.
- Replace and program televisions as needed; address light switches, receptacles, light bulbs, and fixtures.
- Execute furniture repairs, pump replacements, and plumbing fixes (including clogged drains and pipe work).
- Understand and read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
- Trace and repair all types of water lines; troubleshoot and fix kitchen equipment.
- Maintain accurate repair and preventive maintenance records.
- Follow local, state, and federal codes in all work conducted.
- Test, clean, and repair swimming pools and spas; paint specific areas as designated.
- Repair and finish sheetrock and wall coverings; maintain and program hotel electronic lock systems.
