Requirements
Must:
- High School diploma or equivalent; experience in a hotel or related field is mandatory.
- At least one year of relevant experience in a hotel or related field is preferred.
- Trade school or college coursework in a related area is advantageous.
- Flexibility to work long hours when necessary.
- Capable of lifting over 100 pounds occasionally, more than 50 pounds frequently, and over 20 pounds regularly.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with employees and guests in a polite and service-oriented manner.
- Strong listening skills to address and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Friendly and courteous approach in all interactions with guests and employees.
- Participation in all required hotel meetings and training sessions.
- Regular attendance in line with Highgate Hotel standards, adapting to hotel scheduling needs.
- Commitment to high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including proper uniform and nametag.
- Compliance with Highgate Hotel regulations to foster safe and efficient operations.
- Dedication to productivity, identifying problem areas, and supporting the implementation of solutions.
- Proficiency in problem-solving, including prevention, identification, and resolution of issues when necessary.
- Capability to comprehend and apply complex information and data from various sources to achieve objectives.
- Willingness to cross-train in other hotel-related roles.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Demonstrate initiative by anticipating guests or operational needs.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the property is maintained in optimal condition with minimal disruption to guests and staff.
- Repair hotel air conditioning systems, including changing filters, cleaning coils, and replacing motors.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on all equipment such as boilers, chillers, and electrical systems.
- Take necessary readings on equipment.
- Test and monitor cooling towers, documenting relevant readings.
- Replace and program televisions as required.
- Change light switches, outlets, bulbs, and fixtures.
- Complete furniture repairs.
- Repair and replace pumps as needed.
- Manage plumbing repairs, like clearing clogged drains and changing fittings.
- Interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams accurately.
- Trace and repair various water lines.
- Diagnose and fix kitchen equipment issues.
- Maintain records of repairs and preventive maintenance performed.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes in all work performed.
- Test, clean, and repair swimming pools and spas as required.
- Paint designated areas of the property.
- Repair and finish sheetrock as necessary.
- Fix different types of wall coverings.
- Service and program the hotelโs electronic lock systems as needed.
