Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree or higher in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Over 15 years of experience in systems engineering, software engineering, system engineering, or complex system integration roles
- Proven track record in defining system engineering specifications and creating formal documentation
- Extensive experience in integrating software with external devices, third-party systems, or vendor technologies
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Understanding of Agile or hybrid development environments is a plus
- Familiarity with modern system engineering, networking protocols, and distributed systems is desirable
Responsibilities
- Establish and uphold the system-level engineering intent and integration strategy for flagship software products
- Convert business goals, customer needs, and operational limitations into detailed system engineering requirements and documentation
- Maintain the technical integrity of system designs, ensuring coherence across software, hardware, networking, and vendor integrations
- Direct and participate in engineering design and requirement review sessions across various engineering domains
- Create and sustain high-quality system engineering documentation, comprising system specifications, interface control documents (ICDs), engineering descriptions, and integration guides
- Ensure documentation aligns with system purpose, design choices, and supported use cases
- Analyze vendor documentation and technical information, transforming it into actionable insights for internal teams and clear narratives for customers
- Assess third-party devices and vendor technologies for seamless integration within our software products
- Understand vendor priorities and capabilities, pinpointing ways to effectively incorporate them into system designs
- Act as the technical liaison for vendors throughout integration, testing, and validation activities
- Showcase our engineering expertise during customer demonstrations, acceptance testing, evaluations, and technical conversations
- Participate in industry trade shows, customer visits, and partner events to aid in product demonstrations and technical positioning
- Convey complex system concepts in an accessible manner to both technical and non-technical audiences, including customers, partners, and internal stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Test Engineering, Product Management, and Project Management to ensure alignment and successful project execution
- Offer technical support and mentorship to engineers across teams without direct managerial authority
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving intricate system-level challenges across development, integration, and deployment phases
Description
We are seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. This senior, full-time position plays a crucial role in defining, documenting, and clarifying our system-level engineering strategies for our flagship software offerings. As the technical authority, you will bridge the gap between systems engineering, software engineering, product strategy, and customer and partner integrations.
