Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field
- Over 10 years of experience in designing embedded software for production control systems
- At least 5 years of experience in MATLAB/Simulink code generation tool design
- More than 5 years working with FreeRTOS
- 5+ years developing low-level drivers for CAN controllers, inertial measurement devices, EEPROM storage units
- Familiarity with CAN and Ethernet communications
- Proven experience in ensuring delivery of quality code
- Experience in establishing and maintaining flexible business systems/processes
- Ability to manage specifications, design changes, quality, and costs throughout the development cycle
- Capable of systematic thinking and documentation of processes, procedures, and test results
- Proven track record in managing engineering teams
- Experience in marine, automotive, aviation, or military embedded software design (preferred)
- Familiarity with current feedback systems, motor controls, or control systems (preferred)
- Knowledge of automated code integrity (CI/CD) release systems and testing environments (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Oversee the SeaCoder, our in-house MATLAB Simulink code generation tool chain
- Build consensus on development roadmaps for SeaCoder, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery while managing bug fixes and enhancements
- Promote and cultivate best practices within the software development organization
- Act as a mentor and support for junior software development staff
- Manage external resources and enhance internal software capabilities
- Review code from employees and contractors to ensure it meets production standards
- Supervise the SeaCoder release process, driving advancements in unit testing and validation to mitigate risks
- Coordinate interactions with the internal Hardware team to establish hardware/firmware performance definitions
- Recruit, lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse team of Embedded Software Engineers
- Handle daily personnel matters including purchasing approvals and time off requests for the engineering department
- Create, update, and maintain program charters for responsible programs and encourage timely team delivery on those charters
