Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a equivalent professional experience
- Over 5 years of practical experience in VB6 development, including understanding its unique challenges and best practices for legacy environments
- Proficient in .NET Framework (C# or VB.NET), with experience migrating or incorporating VB6 components into .NET
- Advanced skills in SQL, including the ability to write complex queries and develop stored procedures
- Demonstrated capability to work with extensive, unstructured legacy codebases, including reverse engineering undocumented functionalities
- Experience in data analysis to connect database contents with application behaviors
- Proven troubleshooting and debugging skills in multi-tier applications, focusing on swiftly resolving real-world customer issues
- Familiarity with manufacturing or enterprise software applications, such as ERP, inventory management, or production tracking
Responsibilities
- Analyze and sustain legacy VB6 and .NET Framework codebases, including reading, interpreting, and refining source code developed over the past 30 years
- Query and assess SQL databases to derive insights, identify data discrepancies, and relate data structures directly to application logic for troubleshooting
- Diagnose and rectify customer-reported issues by tracking problems through code, data flows, and system interactions, ensuring minimal downtime in manufacturing operations
- Design, develop, and implement enhancements to the application, such as new features, performance improvements, or integrations with modern technologies while maintaining backward compatibility
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing operations, quality assurance, and end-users, to gather requirements and validate solutions
- Document code modifications, data analyses, and troubleshooting procedures to develop institutional knowledge and support future maintenance
- Conduct code reviews, testing, and deployment of updates in a controlled manner to prevent disruptions to production systems
