Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field, along with 2 years of related work experience
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a network engineer position, including the installation and configuration of routers, switches, and wireless equipment
- Proficient with Cisco command line for configuration and troubleshooting of networking equipment
- Familiarity with network protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and VRF
- Strong understanding of network security measures and practices
- Relevant network certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE) are preferred
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting
- Valid Florida Drivers License by the date of hire
- Must pass a pre-employment substance screening and an extensive background check
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain the Countys network infrastructure, including LAN and WAN components
- Troubleshoot and resolve intricate network problems while analyzing performance metrics and conducting preventive maintenance
- Create and manage network security protocols to ensure network integrity, including Network Access Control and encryption measures
- Install and configure network hardware, including routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls
- Proactively monitor network usage and identify potential bottlenecks for future capacity planning
- Document and maintain comprehensive network records, including diagrams and incident reports
- Mentor junior network engineers, providing them with technical guidance and support
- Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate network systems with overall infrastructure
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in network technologies and industry best practices
Description
We are seeking a skilled Senior Network Engineer to join our team in Sarasota County. In this role, you will be essential in designing and maintaining our network infrastructure for optimal performance. This full-time position offers a competitive salary starting at $34.28/hr, potentially reaching up to $38.00/hr depending on your experience. Our team values a collaborative atmosphere and encourages continuous learning and development. You will work Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the flexibility to e-work one day per week after six months, contingent on work requirements. Our team is committed to providing support during emergency events, requiring flexibility and commitment to public service.
