Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline with five years of directly applicable experience, or a combination of education and engineering/scientific background demonstrating capability in independent research and development.
- Ability to achieve and maintain a DOE Q-level and SCI-level security clearance, which may necessitate a polygraph examination.
- Graduate degree in Computer Science or closely related field with a requirement for an independent research project is preferred.
- Proven software development competencies along with familiarity with contemporary software development practices and tools such as Agile.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams, and a desire to enhance and broaden technical expertise.
- 10+ years of experience in front-end, back-end, or full-stack development for large software code bases (0.5 to 1.0+ million lines of code).
- Proficiency in front-end technologies including JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, JQuery, and HTML5/CSS.
- Expertise in back-end development using frameworks and programming languages such as Spring MVC, Tomcat, Jetty, Java, Python, and C++.
- Hands-on experience with mapping libraries like Leaflet, Google Maps, and Esri ArcGIS.
- Experience in relational (e.g., Oracle PL/SQL, SQLite) and non-relational databases (e.g. NoSQL, Cassandra).
- Familiarity with web services, including WSDL, SOAP, and REST.
- Knowledge of technologies such as Apache Karaf, Apache Camel, Mina/Netty, OSGI, JMX, JDBC, Log4J2, Docker, and others.
- Proven track record in test-driven development and related methodologies.
- Understanding of secure software engineering practices and vulnerability assessment methodologies.
- Capable of analyzing technology stacks for optimization, security enhancements, and risk mitigation.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguous situations and effectively collaborating with various stakeholders.
- Active DOE Q/SCI security clearance or equivalent DOD Top Secret/SCI security clearance is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Lead and collaborate with design teams and domain experts to devise innovative solutions that align with mission objectives and user requirements.
- Employ software system architecture and implementation skills, alongside technical documentation and performance assessment techniques to improve mission capabilities involving extensive code bases.
- Collaborate with Software and Systems Engineers, IT personnel, management, and clients to execute solutions that fulfill specified needs.
- Architect software systems, develop and test code, and create software tools vital for mission success.
- Design and implement test plans and procedures, produce reports, and maintain software documentation.
- Execute system integration and unit testing processes.
- Apply design principles to create scalable, dependable, and secure solutions for critical missions.
- Integrate software design methodologies to proactively mitigate security concerns throughout the development lifecycle.
- Develop and refine Concept of Operations (CONOPS) to ensure technical solutions are responsive to operational demands.
- Maintain readiness to provide on-call software support throughout the year as needed.
