Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field with direct experience related to the tasks
- Proficient in PHP and web application development
- Experience in Android app development for tablets and smartphones
- Basic understanding of JAVA program development
- Proven expertise in Oracle, PL/SQL, and relational database design
- Prior involvement in supporting application development through integrated project meetings, data modeling, code reviews, and performance evaluations
- Experience in all stages of the software development life cycle, with the ability to understand both data collection processes and new technologies
- Familiarity with Jira agile project management tools
- Team player with the capability to clarify and refine user requirements
- Knowledgeable about security standards set forth by NOAA/NMFS/Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO)
- Proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace
- Skilled in programming languages such as PHP, PL/SQL, R, C#, and Python, along with ArcGIS
- Experience with Oracle database systems
- Valid state drivers license and capability to operate a Federal motor vehicle
Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve software applications utilized for recording fisheries data, including the NEFSC FSCS system
- Create new software applications or modules for data entry into Oracle structures, and for accessing and viewing stored data
- Develop and enhance software applications for quality assurance/quality control during and after data collection
- Participate in dockside/harbor side work as needed

We are currently looking for a part-time Software Application Developer / Programming Surveyor to join us in supporting the Northeast Fisheries Science Centers Ecosystems Survey Branch. This role will involve both on-site work and tasks aboard research vessels in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean. We offer a competitive salary ranging from $40 to $45 per hour, commensurate with experience.
