Requirements
Must:
- Active DoD Secret clearance (must be current and maintained throughout the contract).
- Onsite presence in Coronado, CA (this role is not remote).
- Over 10 years of professional coding/programming experience in building production systems.
- Leadership experience in engineering: proven track record of leading engineers and owning delivery outcomes (formal management or documented technical leadership).
- Expertise in code quality management: skilled in reviewing pull requests, setting engineering standards, and enhancing team efficiency and quality.
- Familiarity with modern delivery tools: experience in CI/CD, automated testing, build/release pipelines, and developer tools.
- Knowledge of cloud and operational delivery: experience supporting and deploying systems through the full lifecycle (build → validate → release → operate).
- Solid understanding of systems and troubleshooting: strong foundational skills in systems, networking, and addressing real-world debugging issues.
- Excellent communication abilities: capacity to articulate technical decisions clearly and produce comprehensive technical documentation.
Responsibilities
- Own the delivery process: convert stakeholder requirements into actionable roadmaps, milestones, and measurable objectives.
- Lead and support the team: direct engineers throughout design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing operations.
- Maintain a technical and hands-on role: review code, mentor engineers, and address complex challenges (debugging, reliability issues, performance).
- Shape system architecture: influence system design, capacity planning, and tooling selections (development infrastructure, environments, and pipelines).
- Operationalize machine learning delivery: facilitate ML workflows (training → packaging → deployment → monitoring) with a focus on production-oriented engineering.
- Ensure clear communication: create concise documentation and effectively present complex subjects to diverse audiences, both technical and non-technical.
