Requirements
Must:
- Must be at least 17 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien
- Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening
- Ability to remain calm and professional in difficult situations
- Excellent communication skills with diverse backgrounds
- Proven problem-solving abilities
Responsibilities
- Facilitate disaster preparedness and resilience training sessions
- Organize community-wide engagement activities
- Document and track records meticulously, including resource distribution and event participation using software
- Coordinate with Volunteer Coordinators to inform past volunteers about upcoming trainings
- Tailor preparedness materials to incorporate local information
- Provide disaster preparedness resources to current and past clients
- Assist clients in creating preparedness plans and connecting them with external resources
- Work with the Client Service team to integrate preparedness information into services
- Regularly meet with the Prepare Team Supervisor to discuss goals and receive feedback
- Contribute to outreach and planning for special preparedness events
- Support fundraising initiatives related to project goals
- Comply with safety protocols and take part in regular training sessions
- Engage in community service events such as September 11th Day of Remembrance and Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Description
At SBP, we are a national nonprofit organization focused on reducing the gap between disaster occurrence and community recovery. We promote preparedness and resilience while assisting with rebuilding efforts across eight Gulf South states. By joining our team as an AmeriCorps Client Preparedness Coordinator, youll empower Lake & Sumter Counties to enhance their disaster readiness. This is a full-time commitment for 10 months, where youll have an opportunity to make a tangible impact in our communities.
