Requirements
Must:
- Must be at least 17 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including active listening.
- Ability to maintain professionalism in challenging situations and during client crises.
- Clear communication skills to convey needs and expectations to diverse individuals.
- Willingness to work from Tuesday to Saturday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage construction projects to rebuild and fortify homes for disaster survivors.
- Mentor and train volunteers during the construction phases.
- Engage in sustainability practices to enhance homes against future storms.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized worksite while ensuring high-quality construction standards.
- Interact positively and professionally with team members, homeowners, and volunteers.
- Communicate daily and weekly project goals to team members and volunteers.
- Supervise and support volunteers through various construction tasks.
- Act as the liaison between homeowners and volunteers during projects.
- Participate in community service events, including September 11th Day of Remembrance and Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
- Identify and assist clients in completing applications for aid and connecting them with needed resources.
- Coordinate volunteer logistics and be the main point of contact for inquiries.
- Document volunteer activities and ensure accurate record-keeping using various software tools.
- Lead engaging volunteer orientations and communicate ongoing community needs.

We are SBP, a social impact organization committed to disaster resilience and recovery, hiring three AmeriCorps members to support lowernine.org in New Orleans, LA. Our nonprofit has nearly two decades of experience working with Lower 9th Ward residents to rebuild homes and restore lives post-Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
