Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree and 14+ years of experience; or a masters degree and 12+ years of experience (additional experience may be accepted in place of a degree).
- Familiarity with OMB, NIST, CISA, and related security protocols and directives.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms.
- Knowledge of information protection technologies such as firewalls, antivirus solutions, threat protection, servers, and routers.
- Understanding of countermeasures and mitigation strategies for identifying cybersecurity risks.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Department and external cyber stakeholders on cybersecurity technologies, specifically with Microsoft products and security systems.
- Identify and remediate cybersecurity vulnerabilities across the State Department global IT infrastructure.
- Provide expert guidance in designing, implementing, and maintaining database management systems in a cybersecurity setting.
- Conduct operation and maintenance for existing cyber tools and technologies (MSV, Qualys, Tenable Nessus, etc.).
- Utilize preventive measures, system monitoring, and data analysis to enhance security.
- Offer technical leadership and support to security and operational teams.
- Assess system performance in relation to incidents, conduct risk assessments, and evaluate performance metrics.
- Develop and implement security strategies for cyber defense technologies to ensure seamless operation.
- Create reports and dashboards; submit tuning requests to enhance SIEM system functionalities.
- Perform security reviews to identify gaps in architecture and suggest improvements based on trend analyses.
- Accurately document all activities related to systems security implementation, operations, and maintenance.
