Space Ground Satellite Systems Engineer - Chantilly

- Lead the development and breakdown of technical objectives while overseeing contractor design, development, integration, and testing of communication systems for experimental space systems - Facilitate integration of COMMs systems and manage interface control - Provide expert guidance on Satellite COMM system performance in relation to requirements and specifications - Engage in systems architecting and engineering tasks such as defining system objectives, managing interfaces, designing solutions, conducting systems integration, analyzing performance, and refining operational concepts - Assist in the verification and validation of COMMs systems and components - Aid in the connection of secure COMMS capabilities, including hardware cryptographic devices - Conduct program risk evaluations and offer actionable mitigation strategies to the program manager - Collaborate independently with representatives from government program offices, FFRDC, SETA, and contractor teams - Lead the development of technical requirements and systems engineering while supervising contractors in the development, design, production, integration, and testing of Satellite COMMS systems - Manage necessary COMMs-related approvals and waivers, including spectrum management as required - Participate in program readiness and design reviews - Ensure R&D activities are executed based on sound engineering principles, incorporating technical risk management - Support program acquisition, source selection, and related programmatic processes
