Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors degree in network engineering/computer engineering or related field with 10+ years of IT network engineering and architecture experience (Tier III and above, network infrastructure design and implementation) for large, complex networks; equivalent experience may substitute for formal education. - Proficiency in designing scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise network architectures, including LAN, WAN, SDWAN, and cloud-based solutions. - Cisco certification such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE. - In-depth knowledge of Layer 2/Layer 3, routing and switching, tunneling, and networking protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, static, L2TP, IPSEC, VPN, DMVPN, GRE, Spanning tree, etherchannel, VLAN trunking, 802.1q, HSRP, VRRP, GLBP, VPC, MPLS, and VLANs, along with experience in enterprise-grade routers and switches. - Extensive familiarity with Cisco switching and routing product lines. - Experience in implementing security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and zero-trust architectures. - Strong background in the design, support, and troubleshooting of large and complex end-to-end networks. - U.S. Citizenship and active Top Secret Clearance are mandatory.

Responsibilities

- Assess, design, document, and troubleshoot network and voice systems while ensuring performance optimization and maintenance of standards. - Offer client consulting and training regarding the design and operation of network systems and architectures. - Utilize network management tools and performance analysis techniques to isolate and resolve issues and monitor system performance. - Collaborate with Architects to create solutions addressing operational challenges within the capabilities and limitations of installed equipment. - Draft contingency strategies for network-related hardware failures, including minor and significant outages. - Provide internal consulting, technical support, and guidance to application developers, computer operations, management, and departmental clients. - Research, evaluate, and recommend innovative network hardware and technology solutions, both hardware and software.

We are the Network Technologies Business Unit seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our team. This role supports the Department of State Bureau of Diplomatic Technology program, focusing on the engineering and design of foreign post network integrations with the DoS Core and other complex network configurations. Our mission is to create transparent and interconnected security systems that aid the DoS in fulfilling its foreign policy objectives. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing flexibility in work arrangements. As part of our team, you will contribute to vital infrastructure that supports a wide range of network solutions, enhancing enterprise architecture and operational excellence.
