Scientific systems engineer

- Conduct software application maintenance on scientific workstations across various operating systems, including Mac OS, Windows, and Linux - Execute routine and preventative maintenance, including general computer tasks, application installations, disk utilization checks, system loading, and monitoring, as well as applying operating system patches and antivirus updates - Identify, document, and swiftly resolve any system issues or outages occurring during the operation of scientific workstations, including the collection of diagnostic data and restoration of system functionality - Maintain accurate records of problems using logging and discrepancy reporting tools - Collaborate directly with clients on day-to-day activities - Address user inquiries regarding hardware and software issues, ensuring proper escalation when necessary, and communicate status updates to users and management - Perform hands-on equipment repairs and manage the maintenance and installation of computing infrastructure - Troubleshoot and maintain all hardware associated with end-user computing, including printers and workstations - Implement strategies for continuous improvement through IT systems or procedures - Keep an inventory of system assets - Ensure adherence to FDA standards and security protocols - Participate in additional tasks such as end-user documentation, training, computer relocations, and any other assigned duties
