Requirements
Must:
- 9+ years of relevant experience; masters degree with 7+ years; may consider additional experience in place of a degree
- Hands-on experience with Commvault, Dell EMC Avamar, or equivalent enterprise-class data protection systems in an on-premises/data center setting
- Experience with enterprise backup architecture, including replication technologies
- Familiarity with storage platforms
- Experience supporting VMware vSphere and vCenter environments
- Knowledge of Windows Server
- Understanding of networking fundamentals related to backup and storage traffic
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Active secret clearance with the capability to obtain a top secret clearance
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Dell EMC Proven Professional, Commvault Certified Professional, VMware VCP) are preferred
- Experience in supporting Federal or DOS IT environments is preferred
- Familiarity with air-gapped backup solutions and ransomware protection strategies is a plus
- Experience with database backup and recovery (Oracle, SQL Server) is a plus
Responsibilities
- Administer and support the enterprise on-premises Commvault data protection platforms
- Monitor and oversee daily backup operations to ensure successful job completion and prompt issue resolution
- Execute data backup, restoration, and disaster recovery operations for both physical and virtual environments
- Maintain and enhance backup infrastructure, which includes backup servers, media agents, and storage systems
- Troubleshoot systemic issues related to backup failures, performance degradation, and storage utilization
- Develop and enforce backup protocols, retention schedules, and disaster recovery procedures according to customer requirements
- Conduct regular validation of backups and recovery tests to guarantee system resilience
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (systems, storage, network, cybersecurity) to uphold secure and compliant operations
- Assist audit readiness and compliance initiatives by providing necessary documentation and reporting
- Keep thorough technical documentation, including SOPs, system diagrams, and operational procedures
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide after-hours support as needed
