Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors degree or a comparable combination of education and experience in system design and development. - At least seven years in an analytical and programming role, focusing on healthcare data for research, reporting, and analytics, or equivalent experience. - Recent experience utilizing ETL tools/software (such as Informatica, ODI, Data Quality, and native PL/SQL). - Strong proficiency in SQL. - Experience with Data Modeling in a Data Warehouse environment. - Current experience with Oracle and MS SQL Server databases. - Familiarity with Perl or Shell Scripting, as well as R and SAS, is desirable. - Preferred experience with the EPIC data model and/or healthcare data. - EPIC Caboodle Developer Certifications are a plus. - A customer-focused mindset with professionalism, courtesy, and respectful communication with team members and clients is essential. - Experience in data modeling for research, reporting, and analytics. - Ability to harness big-data technologies effectively. - Capability to comprehend complex, integrated business intelligence and data modeling. - Understanding of intricate user authentication and data access security models. - Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, fostering collaborative relationships with users and colleagues. - Strong ability in technical documentation, analytical reasoning, and research skills. - Competence in creating and managing ETL workflows/processes for various data sources, including cloud sources, and developing specifications based on client needs to implement ETL solutions using Oracle PL/SQL, Informatica, R, SAS, or other ETL tools. - Knowledgeable about reporting tools, decision support systems, data modeling, and ETL processing, particularly within the EPIC data model and other healthcare datasets. - Experience in data mapping analysis and design. - Familiar with Data Warehouse principles and experience with Star Schema. - Comprehensive understanding of data structures, database solutions, and best practices in data management. - Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

- Provide development and production support for the Business Intelligence infrastructure, including data warehouses, data marts, data models, data services, views, and reports. - Focus primarily within the Clinical Research environment, adhering to HIPAA compliance standards. - Analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, and maintain ETL and reporting processes standardized at the university, facilitating integration with both internal and external data partners. - Independently develop processes to support clinical research initiatives with minimal guidance. - Manage data ingestion from diverse university data sources. - Adapt and lead in the establishment of ETL development best practices. - Collaborate with research leads and technical teams to design and develop ETL workflows that transform data into formats suitable for research and reporting purposes. - Serve as an Honest Broker within the Clinical & Research setting, managing confidential information while distributing necessary elements to authorized entities. - Oversee the file management of sensitive data related to the CRDW environment, ensuring approval from the Data Governance Committee and maintaining a status log of data inventory and file transfers. - Understand and comply with Rutgers compliance standards, including the RBHS Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy. - Perform additional related tasks as required.
