Requirements
Must:
- 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, DevOps, or site reliability engineering roles
- Proficient in Linux/Unix systems and their internals
- Strong skills in one or more programming/scripting languages (Python, Go, Java, Bash)
- Experience in designing and managing highly available, distributed systems
- In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud Platform) and cloud-native services
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Solid understanding of monitoring, alerting, and logging principles
- Experience with defining and managing Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and error budgets
- Knowledge of incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), and postmortem processes
- Experience integrating security and compliance into operational processes
- Preferred: familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)
- Preferred: experience operating 24x7 production environments with on-call duties
- Preferred: background in chaos engineering and resiliency testing
- Preferred: experience with feature flags and progressive delivery methods
- Preferred: strong documentation skills for operational standards and runbooks
Responsibilities
- Ensure the reliability, availability, performance, and scalability of production systems
- Apply software engineering practices to enhance infrastructure and operations
- Collaborate with development teams to create resilient, observable, and automated platforms
- Understand key business objectives and locate alternative solutions for operational challenges
- Conduct studies and cost/benefit analyses for operational alternatives
- Analyze user requirements and operational procedures to optimize processing
- Consult with relevant personnel to determine specific input/output needs and reporting formats
- Compose detailed descriptions of user needs and program functions
- Assess system capabilities and limitations to ascertain the feasibility of program modifications
