Requirements
Must:
- Proven experience in the Oil and Gas industry, particularly in software development
- A degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution
- At least four years of experience in software development utilizing Java
- Proficient in using Java frameworks such as Spring and Spring Boot (preferred)
- Knowledge of REST APIs, Struts, EJB, and other Java EE design patterns
- Experience with SQL databases (Oracle, SQL Server, or similar)
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git
- Understanding of Unix/Linux and Bourne/Korn shell scripting
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Availability for occasional nights and weekends to support code deployments and application maintenance
Responsibilities
- Analyze current Java applications for business logic, workflows, and system behaviors
- Review source code from various frameworks to identify business rules, data flows, and integration points
- Work collaboratively with Business Analysts to translate technical functionalities into business terms and validate system behaviors against set requirements
- Document results including functional specifications, process flows, data mappings, and technical design documents
- Assist in application modernization by recognizing reusable components and dependencies
- Support troubleshooting and clarification of system behaviors during testing phases
- Engage in discussions with architects, developers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment on current systems
- Analyze bridging from legacy applications utilizing frameworks such as Struts and EJB
- Participate actively in team discussions for sprint and release planning, providing development estimates and addressing defects
