Requirements
Must:
- 8+ years of experience in administering Databricks workspaces in a cloud environment, preferably AWS
- Strong understanding of Databricks cluster configuration, job scheduling, and workspace management
- Proven experience managing user access, roles, and permissions utilizing IAM, SCIM, and role-based access control (RBAC)
- Proficiency in Apache Spark concepts, including performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Experience integrating Databricks with cloud storage services (e.g., S3)
- Familiarity with implementing and enforcing cluster policies and workspace governance standards
- Knowledge of Databricks SQL, notebooks, and job orchestration
- Experience monitoring platform health, performance, and availability
- Understanding of data security, encryption, and compliance requirements
- Experience with DevOps or automation tools (Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, scripting)
- Preferred: Experience administering Databricks in an enterprise or government environment
- Preferred: Experience with Databricks Unity Catalog for data governance and access control
- Preferred: Knowledge of cost management and optimization for Databricks workloads
- Preferred: Experience supporting AI/ML workloads using Databricks ML and MLflow
- Preferred: Familiarity with data lake and lakehouse architectures
- Preferred: Knowledge of Python, SQL, or Scala for administration and troubleshooting
Responsibilities
- Oversee the administration, configuration, and support of the Databricks platform to facilitate scalable data engineering, analytics, and AI/ML workloads
- Ensure the reliability, security, cost management, and regulatory compliance of the platform
- Support data engineers, analysts, and data scientists across the organization
- Manage workspace configuration, cluster policies, user access, and integrations with cloud services
- Conduct ongoing monitoring of the platform to support enterprise data and analytics initiatives
- Analyze business objectives and identify alternative solutions
- Perform studies and cost/benefit analyses of various alternatives
- Confer with relevant personnel to understand operational procedures and specific requirements
- Prepare detailed descriptions of user needs, program functionalities, and needed steps for program development or modification
- Review system capabilities and scheduling limitations to determine feasibility of program adjustments
