Requirements
Must:
- High School diploma or equivalent, or relevant experience in hospitality required.
- Minimum of one year of experience in the hotel industry or a related field is preferred.
- Trade school or college coursework in a pertinent area is advantageous.
- Flexibility to work long hours when necessary.
- Ability to exert over 100 pounds of force occasionally, over 50 pounds frequently, and over 20 pounds regularly.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with employees and guests in a friendly and service-oriented manner.
- Capable of effective listening, understanding, and addressing concerns of both staff and guests.
- Proficient in multitasking and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
- Friendly and courteous approach in all interactions with guests and employees.
- Attendance at all mandatory hotel meetings and training sessions is required.
- Consistent attendance per Highgate Hotel Standards, adapting to the hotels scheduling needs.
- High standards for personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the uniform and name tag.
- Compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to support safe and efficient operations.
- Focus on productivity, identifying challenges, and assisting in developing solutions.
- Skillful in addressing and resolving issues, with the ability to anticipate and prevent potential problems.
- Capacity to comprehend and apply complex information from various sources to meet specific goals.
- Willingness to cross-train in other hotel-related functions.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of information.
- Demonstrated initiative in anticipating guest or operational needs.
- Willingness to undertake other duties as assigned by management.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the property is maintained in optimal condition with minimal disruption to guests and staff.
- Perform repairs on hotel air conditioning systems, including changing filters, cleaning coils, and replacing motors.
- Conduct preventive maintenance across all equipment such as boilers, chillers, and HVAC systems.
- Take necessary readings on various equipment.
- Test cooling towers and document readings accurately.
- Replace and program televisions as appropriate.
- Substitute light switches, receptacles, bulbs, and fixtures as needed.
- Carry out furniture repairs.
- Replace and fix pumps efficiently.
- Execute plumbing repairs such as addressing clogged drains and changing washers.
- Read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams proficiently.
- Trace and repair various water lines effectively.
- Troubleshoot and mend kitchen equipment as required.
- Keep accurate repair and preventive maintenance logs.
- Adhere to local, state, and federal codes during maintenance tasks.
- Test, clean, and maintain swimming pools and spas.
- Paint designated areas when needed.
- Repair and finish drywall as necessary.
- Repair various types of wall coverings.
- Maintain and program the hotels electronic locking system.
