Requirements
Must:
- A high school diploma or equivalent, and/or a minimum of one year of experience in a hotel or a related field is required.
- At least two years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field is preferred.
- Trade school and/or college coursework in a related discipline is preferred.
- Flexibility to work long hours as needed.
- Capable of exerting over 100 pounds of force occasionally, over 50 pounds of force frequently, and over 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or handle objects.
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor consistently.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Growth in listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental tasks to meet deadlines.
- Approach all interactions with guests and employees in a friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Attend all mandatory hotel meetings and training sessions.
- Ensure regular attendance in line with Highgate Hotel Standards as required by scheduling, which will vary based on hotel needs.
- Maintain high personal appearance and grooming standards, including wearing the appropriate uniform and nametag.
- Adhere to Highgate Hotel standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Strive for productivity, identify problem areas, and aid in implementing solutions.
- Effectively manage problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving issues as needed.
- Understand and apply intricate information and data from various sources to achieve applicable goals.
- Willingness to cross-train in other hotel related areas.

Responsibilities
- Carry out repairs on the hotel’s air conditioning system, including changing filters, cleaning coils, and replacing motors.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on all equipment (e.g., boilers, chillers, HVAC, electrical systems, etc.).
- Take necessary readings on equipment.
- Test the cooling tower and record readings.
- Replace and program televisions when required.
- Replace light switches, receptacles, light bulbs, and fixtures.
- Perform furniture repairs.
- Replace and fix pumps.
- Conduct plumbing repairs (e.g., clogged drains, copper piping, changing washers, changing handles, drain fittings, etc.).
- Be capable of reading blueprints and wiring diagrams effectively.
- Trace and repair all types of water lines.
- Troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment as necessary.
- Maintain records of repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure work complies with local, state, and federal codes.
- Test, clean, and repair swimming pools and spas.
- Painting designated areas as needed.
- Repair and finish sheetrock.
- Repair all forms of wall coverings.
- Repair and program the hotel’s electronic lock system.
- Assist in supervising other engineering staff members.
- Help in scheduling preventive maintenance tasks.
