Requirements
Must:
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience as a Toolmaker specializing in injection molding or precision tooling.
- Extensive knowledge in CNC machining and sinker EDM operations.
- Proficient in CAM programming and experience with major CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Powermill, Hypermill).
- Capability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and 3D models.
- Solid understanding of tool steels, heat treatment processes, and precision machining techniques.
- Experience with mold assembly, fitting, and troubleshooting.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to maintain tight tolerances.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and mechanical aptitude.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Responsibilities
- Manufacture, assemble, and fit precision injection mold components using CNC milling, turning, grinding, and EDM processes.
- Develop and refine CAM programs for CNC machining operations (e.g., Mastercam, Powermill, or similar).
- Interpret 2D drawings and 3D CAD models to produce precise tooling components.
- Set up and operate CNC machines (Hurco) and sinker EDM (Mitsubishi) equipment to meet stringent tolerances and superior surface finishes.
- Model, program, and cut electrodes for the plastics injection molding process.
- Generate and optimize cutter paths for both carbon and steel materials.
- Execute tooling modifications, repairs, and maintenance according to engineering changes.
- Collaborate with tooling engineers and designers to give feedback on manufacturability and process enhancements.
- Troubleshoot tooling challenges and suggest corrective measures.
- Maintain documentation related to tooling, including setup sheets, programs, and maintenance records.
- Mentor and guide toolmakers in best practices, precision techniques, and safety protocols.
Description
