Requirements
Must:
- Proven experience in the software development lifecycle, especially in ETL development
- Strong practical knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS), particularly AWS Glue Studio
- Proficiency in programming languages such as PySpark and Python
- Familiarity with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL
- Experience in dynamic development settings with a focus on project completion
- Proficient in version control systems (preferably CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodePipeline)
- Experienced with issue and problem tracking systems (Jira preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree with 8-12 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 6-10 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of multiple file formats and familiarity with DB2, JCL, COBOL COPYBOOK, and EBCDIC formats is preferable
- Relevant AWS, Agile, or similar certifications are a plus
- Prior involvement in mainframe modernization efforts
- Experience with Linux bash scripting is advantageous
Responsibilities
- Redesign mainframe batch processes into equivalent ETL batch operations, ideally using cloud-native resources like AWS Glue
- Utilize serverless cloud services for preparing (extracting and transforming) and loading extensive datasets for data processing
- Collaborate closely with mainframe teams to ensure clear understanding of requirements and specifications
- Design Glue jobs to meet outlined requirements, optimize performance when applicable, adhere to coding standards, and conduct comprehensive testing
- Document design specifications and assist in development of implementation plans, while collaborating with the architecture team and lead developer to review design and coding work
- Efficiently manage infrastructure and service needs with architecture and infrastructure teams
- Implement overall solutions consisting of Glue ETL PySpark jobs, including SQL queries, Lambda functions, Step Functions, and REST API calls
- Develop and integrate custom software solutions leveraging automated deployment technologies
- Utilize leading DevOps tools like CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodePipeline, and AWS CloudFormation
- Relay important project information to team members, fostering team cohesion and effectiveness
- Utilize the Atlassian tool suite, such as JIRA and Confluence, to monitor activities
- Identify and implement best practices and standard operating procedures
- Create innovative solutions that address the technical needs of clients
