Requirements
Must:
- Over 5 years of experience with high voltage battery systems
- Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and fostering collaborative resolutions
- In-depth understanding of high-voltage lithium-ion battery testing and validation processes
- Proven track record in conducting design failure mode effects analysis (DFMEA)
- Experience in planning reliability tests, including defining sample sizes and damage acceleration models
- Familiarity with component and validation tests
- Ability to streamline complex test protocols into focused testing efforts
- Capability to perform independently and within a team setting
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach
- Proficiency in using tools such as Jira, Confluence, JAMA, and Plato is highly beneficial
Responsibilities
- Lead the comprehensive ESS validation strategy from initial concept through to engineering sign-off and post-launch support, ensuring alignment on scope, timelines, and risks
- Convert DFMEA/NUDD outcomes into DVP/DVPR with specific, measurable criteria and risk prioritization
- Assess test specifications to confirm they adequately address risks outlined in DFMEA/NUDD
- Develop strategies for demonstrating reliability, including comprehensive plans, tracking failures, and addressing reliability gaps
- Facilitate ESO readiness reviews and manage any deviations to ensure timely launches with identified risks
- Integrate inputs from design, systems, reliability, testing, software/BMS, manufacturing, and operations for unified validation execution
- Plan and execute testing at pack, module, and system levels covering durability, cycle life, thermal characterization, and safety
- Create and oversee validation dashboards to enhance transparency and accountability
- Regularly review DVP coverage to ensure comprehensive testing representation and verifiable progress
- Oversee issue resolution by coordinating root-cause analysis and corrective actions while tracking lessons learned
- Manage mapping of BOM coverage against validation plans and address any gaps
- Utilize data and simulation outcomes to aid in test design and accelerate decision-making
- Define entry/exit criteria and critical deliverables to manage risk during validation phases
- Prepare and maintain schedules for validation tasks, identifying critical paths and executing recovery plans as necessary
- Mentor junior engineers, standardizing processes and promoting ongoing improvements in practices
- Communicate effectively with leadership regarding status, risks, and necessary trade-offs; support data-centered decision-making at significant program milestones
