Requirements
Must:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive) with at least 3 years of practical experience in a relevant testing environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as Unigraphics and Catia, for prototype machining and fabrication.
- Demonstrated experience in powertrain product development engineering in a test lab, including validation and performance testing.
- Experience in conducting and analyzing powertrain and vehicle-level tests is highly preferred.
- Strong analytical abilities with a proven history of performing data reduction, detailed analysis, and creating technical reports.
- Comprehensive understanding of electrified powertrain system design principles and performance characteristics.
- Skilled in automotive control module development software (e.g., ETAS INCA, Vector CANape/CANalyzer) and configuring network communications.
- Familiarity with configuring and parameterizing AVL PUMA or National Instruments Veristand test automation systems, including developing automated test routines, is a notable advantage.
- Exceptional adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing test requirements and standards.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage tasks with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and perform system-level testing and validation of electric powertrains and vehicles within a cutting-edge laboratory environment.
- Analyze complex test data and convert it into clear, concise technical reports with insightful interpretation.
- Establish and align with testing standards that dictate data acquisition frameworks, accessory equipment specifications, and data quality assurance protocols.
- Enhance testing efficiency and data quality through the strategic use of advanced methodologies, including statistical Design of Experiments (DoE) and automated test script development.
- Create and implement electric drive unit test profiles using automated testing scripts.
- Proactively address testing challenges related to powertrain test beds and advanced testing devices, driving towards quick and effective solutions.
- Contribute actively to continuous improvement initiatives within the department, promoting a culture of innovation and efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with other Rivian teams, providing technical insights on the development and execution of Rivian Test Standards and contributing valuable input on setups and development plans.
