Requirements

Must:
- 3-5 years of experience in Controls Engineering or similar field - Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline - Proficiency with standard control hardware components used in high-volume manufacturing - Practical experience with the integration and commissioning of manufacturing equipment - Comprehensive understanding of Safety standards (ANSI/RIA15.06, OSHA) - Familiarity with safety design reviews and validation of equipment safety during buy-off - Strong knowledge of Electrical Standards (NFPA79, National Electric Code, UL508A) - Experience creating electrical schematics using EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar tools - Advanced skills in programming industrial equipment with various IEC 61131-3 languages - Background in developing standard and safety PLC projects for high-volume manufacturing using Rockwell, Siemens, or Beckhoff PLCs - Capability in creating HMI projects for high-volume manufacturing equipment using FactoryTalk View, WinCC, Ignition, Wonderware, TwinCAT HMI, or equivalent - Preferred experience with programming and troubleshooting industrial 6-axis robots (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, Kawasaki) - Knowledge of troubleshooting common fieldbus networks like Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, or Profinet - Understanding of communications between machine PLCs and database systems - Experience in interfacing manufacturing equipment with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)

Responsibilities

- Engage in controls equipment evaluations at vendor sites and Rivians factory in Normal, IL for FAT, SAT, and safety - Contribute to the development of controls standards and specifications by sharing lessons learned from projects - Continuously enhance production lines by minimizing cycle time, reducing downtime, and improving quality - Manage, modify, and maintain equipment programs, configuration files, and documentation with proper version control - Update network configurations as necessary by adding or removing network devices - Troubleshoot and enhance PLCs using Ladder Logic and/or Structured Text, focusing on organized, maintainable, and reusable code - Improve and optimize HMIs to enhance user-friendliness and facilitate equipment operation and troubleshooting - Implement modifications to MES logic for production and performance management within PLCs and HMIs - Guarantee the correct application of control and safety systems compliant with ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA for safeguarding high-volume manufacturing equipment - Provide training to Production and Maintenance teams on effective equipment use and troubleshooting from the HMI
