Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline required. - Masters degree or Ph.D. focusing on fluid mechanics, heat transfer, or CFD is highly preferred. - At least 5 years of relevant experience in CFD and 1D thermal analysis within automotive, aerospace, energy, or similar sectors (advanced degrees may substitute for experience). - Demonstrated proficiency in 1D and CFD pre-processing, solving, and post-processing using tools like Simerics, Star-CCM+, or equivalents. - Experience with Simerics-MP+ for simulating oil splash in rotating machinery and gear systems is advantageous. - Solid understanding of multiphase turbulence physics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer (including VOF, surface tension, aeration, conduction, convection, radiation, conjugate heat transfer, and turbulence modeling) with strong insight into tribology. - Competence in managing complex moving geometries through sliding mesh, overset mesh, or morphing techniques for components like gears and bearings. - Familiarity with system-level simulations for Drive Units or similar components, including flow and thermal management. - Knowledge of duty cycles and durability concepts (e.g., oil pump operations, thermal cycling, life prediction based on SN or temperature-time exposure) is a plus. - Proficiency in parametric CAD tools and geometry manipulation (CATIA or similar) sufficient for preparing CFD-ready models. - Experience with scripting in Python, MATLAB, or similar for automating processes, reducing data, and conducting parametric analyses. - Ability to operate independently while flourishing in a highly collaborative team setting, managing analysis tasks autonomously with minimal oversight. - Excellent communication skills to convey complex CFD and thermal insights to non-specialists and actionable guidance for design teams. - A proactive attitude towards exploring new tools, methods, and strategies to enhance the precision, speed, and reliability of analytical processes.

Responsibilities

- As the senior CFD simulations specialist, you will assist in the design and optimization of lubrication and cooling performance for powertrain Drive Unit assemblies, including e-motors. - Develop, validate, and sustain 3D CFD models (both steady-state and transient) utilizing industry-standard software (e.g., Simerics, Star-CCM+ or similar) to forecast oil splash, pressure drop, heat transfer, and flow distribution in critical systems. - Create, validate, and maintain 1D lubrication models (steady-state and transient) using industry-standard software (e.g., AMESIM, GT Suite, Matlab, or similar) to predict lubrication patterns, losses, aeration effects, and other parameters. - Establish boundary conditions, load cases, and duty cycles based on vehicle usage profiles and testing data to ensure simulations accurately reflect real-world customer applications and extreme environmental scenarios. - Convert simulation findings into actionable design suggestions for component owners (Driveline, powertrain, Motor), including geometry modifications, duct strategies, and insulation concepts. - Collaborate with designers and system engineers to harmonize lubrication, thermal, NVH, durability, and manufacturability requirements within a cross-functional framework. - Develop and enhance correlations between CFD and physical testing, including formulating testing plans, instrumentation requirements, and success criteria for lubrication and thermal validation at various levels. - Assist in root cause investigations on developmental and field issues where lubrication and thermal performance may be involved; recommend data-driven corrective measures and design enhancements. - Support the creation and standardization of CFD methodologies, best practices, and templates (for meshing strategies, model reduction techniques, and post-processing standards) to hasten analysis cycles and improve quality. - Present intricate analysis outcomes through concise reports and presentations tailored for design engineers, leadership, and cross-functional collaborators.
