Requirements
Must:
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years (Staff) or 12+ years (Senior Staff) in software engineering, demonstrating a successful history of delivering complex, production-ready systems in enterprise settings.
- Extensive technical expertise in AI/ML, with hands-on experience in building and deploying solutions that utilize language models, retrieval/grounding, embeddings/vector search, and evaluation.
- Proven ability to convert ambiguous business challenges into effective AI products with measurable impact.
- Experience in defining and refining architectures, standards, and platforms that enhance synergy across multiple teams.
- Strong knowledge of security, privacy, compliance, safety, and auditability for enterprise AI systems.
- Exceptional communication skills and stakeholder management, capable of influencing and aligning diverse teams.
- Demonstrated curiosity and agility in learning and applying new technologies through hands-on experimentation and ongoing education.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead the technical design and active development of prioritized AI applications, services, and platforms using cutting-edge LLM app stacks, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluation frameworks, and scalable serving.
- Establish long-term architecture and engineering standards for Applied AI systems to enhance reuse, reliability, and impact across various product areas.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to convert high-value opportunities into actionable roadmaps and deliver products with defined success metrics and measurable outcomes.
- Develop a comprehensive view of AI investments by partnering with neighboring engineering teams implementing AI in their sectors, ensuring alignment, reuse of components, and prevention of redundancy.
- Propel continuous improvement in AI methodologies and best practices; assess emerging capabilities and implement them as secure, production-grade systems.
- Work alongside Legal, Compliance, Risk, Audit, and Security teams to incorporate strong governance, privacy, security, safety, and reporting practices throughout the AI lifecycle.
- Promote AI literacy, enablement, and integration through demonstrations, guidance, and technical leadership across the organization.
- Mentor engineers at various levels; lead design reviews; enhance code quality, dependability, observability, and cost-effectiveness of AI workloads.
- Set up rigorous evaluation, guardrails, and monitoring practices; track offline and online metrics to guarantee quality, safety, and service level objectives (SLOs).
- Streamline latency, throughput, and cost at scale; guide make/buy decisions and vendor integrations where applicable.
