Requirements
Must:
- Must have a Masters degree in an engineering field, with experience in testing lithium-ion battery cells or packs.
- Strong understanding of cell performance metrics and evaluation methods through testing and analysis.
- Solid grasp of electrochemical processes across different lithium-ion chemistries.
- Proficient in Python and SQL databases, capable of scripting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and critical thinking abilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills, innovative thinking, and initiative.
- Eager to thrive in a fast-paced environment and dedicated to completing tasks.
- Passionate about research and development in lithium-ion batteries, particularly for electric vehicles.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
- Nice to have: Familiarity with CAN and module/pack testing.
- Nice to have: Experience with cell teardown, CT scans, and other testing methodologies for lithium-ion batteries.
Responsibilities
- Conduct lithium-ion battery cell testing, including electrical, mechanical, and electrochemical assessments.
- Establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), prioritize testing activities, and communicate the status of tests to various teams of engineers and scientists.
- Develop test scripts and automate testing processes using various cyclers and chambers.
- Collaborate with data engineers to process data, maintain the cell testing database, and create automated scripts for data analysis and report generation.
- Analyze and present test findings to engineers and scientists, supporting cross-functional teams with testing reports as required.
- Aid in the automation of the entire testing workflow from request to the delivery of test results.
- Partner with test engineers and technicians to plan and execute testing priorities over different time frames.
- Design and implement lab key performance indicators (KPIs) using scripts to enhance operations and productivity.
- Create test fixtures to enhance testing capability and enhance the accuracy of data collection.
- Work with equipment vendors to acquire and integrate external systems into the Rivian cell testing laboratory.
- Ensure the maintenance of lab space and equipment, including calibration and troubleshooting as necessary.
