Requirements

Must:
- 3-5 years of experience in Controls Engineering or relevant field - Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline - Proficient with standard controls hardware components utilized in high-volume manufacturing - Practical experience in integrating and commissioning high-volume manufacturing equipment - Comprehensive understanding of safety standards (ANSI/RIA15.06, OSHA) - Involvement in safety design assessments and validation of equipment safety during buy-offs - Strong knowledge of Electrical Standards (NFPA79, National Electric Code, UL508A) - Ability to develop electrical schematics using EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar tools - Advanced programming skills for industrial equipment using various IEC 61131-3 languages - Experience in creating standard and safety PLC projects from the ground up for high-volume manufacturing using Rockwell, Siemens, or Beckhoff PLCs - Experience in establishing HMI projects from scratch for high-volume manufacturing gear utilizing FactoryTalk View, WinCC, Ignition, Wonderware, TwinCAT HMI, or similar - Familiarity with programming and troubleshooting industrial 6-axis robots (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, Kawasaki) is preferred - Capable of troubleshooting common fieldbus networks such as Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, or Profinet - Knowledge of communication methods between machine PLCs and database systems - Experience connecting manufacturing equipment with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)

Responsibilities

- Engage in various controls equipment buy-offs at vendor sites and at our factory in Normal, IL for FAT, SAT, and safety evaluations - Contribute to the development of controls standards and specifications by sharing insights and identified gaps from each project - Continuously enhance production lines by minimizing cycle time, reducing downtime, and elevating quality - Manage, modify, and maintain version control of equipment programs, configuration files, and documentation, encompassing hardware, electrical, safety, pneumatic, network, PLC, HMI, Robot, SCADA, and MES - Add or remove network devices from the equipment as required, along with updates to network switch configurations - Diagnose, enhance, and introduce new features to PLCs using Ladder Logic and/or Structured Text, focusing on organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable code - Improve HMIs to ensure they are user-friendly, intuitive, and effective for operating and troubleshooting equipment - Implement and adjust MES logic for production and performance management within the PLCs and HMIs - Ensure correct implementation and modifications of control reliable safety systems in compliance with ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA for safeguarding robots, gantries, and conveyors - Provide training to Production and Maintenance teams on the efficient use of equipment and troubleshooting from the HMI
