Requirements
Must:
- Active Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship required
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field - or equivalent professional experience managing enterprise UNIX/Linux systems.
- Proven experience handling and supporting UNIX/Linux servers in a critical or enterprise setting.
- Strong expertise in Linux installation, configuration, hardening, and lifecycle management.
- Practical experience with system monitoring, performance optimization, and advanced troubleshooting.
- Background in conducting regular security assessments, vulnerability management, and compliance-oriented system upkeep.
- Proficient in shell scripting (e.g., Bash, Python) for task automation.
- Basic understanding of network principles including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and firewalls.
- Experience in supporting backup and recovery operations, fault-tolerant setups, and data protection strategies.
- Capability to deliver Tier III support for intricate technical challenges.
- Experience documenting operational procedures, configuration standards, and troubleshooting manuals.
- Ability to work collaboratively with engineering, security, and diverse technical teams.
Responsibilities
- Support the design, implementation, and continuous management of enterprise-level UNIX/Linux systems within the Insider Threat Platform (ITP) environment.
- Ensure the stability, security, and performance of critical infrastructure by applying system administration best practices.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to achieve mission-critical objectives.
- Conduct system monitoring, performance tuning, and security checks.
- Manage vulnerability remediation and ensure compliance with system maintenance protocols.
- Automate operational tasks through effective shell scripting.
- Participate in the oversight of backup and recovery processes and fault-tolerant configurations.
- Document and maintain operational procedures, configuration standards, and troubleshooting guides.
- Provide Tier III support for escalated technical problems as required.
Description
We are RDTS, seeking a Cleared Linux System Administrator to support a vital IT program at the U.S. Department of Treasury in Washington, D.C. This is a full-time, fully on-site role located in downtown D.C., operating Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We only consider candidates with an active security clearance. Our team is dedicated to maintaining high standards in system administration to ensure the security and functionality of our critical infrastructure.
