Requirements
Must:
- Must possess an active Security Clearance
- Over 3 years of experience in database engineering or administration
- Solid practical experience with Amazon RDS and/or Aurora
- Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, and Oracle
- Proficient in SQL with knowledge of indexing, query execution plans, and optimization techniques
- Experience with backup strategies and disaster recovery
- Basic understanding of AWS networking concepts (VPC, subnets, security groups)
- Knowledge of implementing encryption both at rest and in transit
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Python and Bash
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools
Responsibilities
- Work within C2E/C2S AWS environments
- Design and execute scalable, secure, and highly available database architectures within AWS
- Deploy and oversee AWS database services including Amazon RDS (PostgreSQL), Aurora, and DynamoDB
- Conduct performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning for databases
- Implement strategies for backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (Multi-AZ, cross-region replication, snapshots)
- Manage database migrations to AWS utilizing tools like AWS DMS and SCT
- Set up monitoring and alerting mechanisms with CloudWatch, Enhanced Monitoring, Performance Insights, and third-party solutions
- Automate database provisioning and configuration processes using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK Python)
- Enforce database security best practices, including encryption (KMS), IAM authentication, role-based access, and network isolation
- Assist with data replication, ETL integrations, and data warehousing solutions
- Diagnose issues in production databases and perform root cause analysis
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for architecture, operational procedures, and compliance requirements
