Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Software, or a related engineering discipline; Masters degree preferred.
- Over 10 years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 5 years in leadership roles managing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proven experience in guiding precision electronic or electro-mechanical products from concept to production release, such as instrumentation or test equipment.
- Solid understanding of mechanical design, including fans and airflow, as well as analog and digital electronics, and can read schematics.
- Knowledgeable in embedded firmware development on microcontrollers (PIC32, ESP32) and Linux systems, sensor design, and connected-device software.
- Experience leading projects to volume production including design for manufacturability, reliability testing, and vendor qualification.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or ISO 17025 and similar quality frameworks.
- Track record of managing engineering operational processes, including meetings, action items, and project timelines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to bridge technical discussions and executive updates.
- Collaborative, proactive team player who is self-motivated and adept at completing projects.
- Comfortable advocating for and using AI tools in engineering tasks, ensuring human oversight over releases.
- Must be able to work full-time on-site at our Everson, WA headquarters.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the technical development roadmap for our hardware, firmware, and software offerings, including blower door and duct testing systems.
- Lead, mentor, and expand the engineering team across various disciplines while establishing clear objectives.
- Facilitate the engineering operating cadence by conducting regular meetings, tracking action items, and resolving issues before escalation.
- Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and resource allocation while making necessary adjustments when needed.
- Lead the full product development cycle from requirements gathering to compliance, ensuring smooth transitions to production.
- Maintain rigorous engineering standards, including design documentation, version control, and failure analysis relevant to precision instruments.
- Utilize modern engineering tools to enhance productivity while ensuring proper human oversight on significant changes.
- Promote advancements in measurement accuracy and usability while ensuring product usability with legacy systems.
- Deliver detailed production-ready design packages to the manufacturing team to minimize ambiguity during production.
- Guide pilot runs and validations for new and modified products and iterate designs based on production feedback.
- Manage technical relationships with manufacturing partners and assess new components in collaboration with purchasing.
- Provide support for production issues requiring engineering insights without taking over day-to-day management.
- Oversee the calibration program and ensure compliance with ISO 17025 accreditation standards.
- Ensure all shipped products meet specified standards and manage regulatory certifications for various markets.
- Supervise warranty and repair processes, addressing escalations and leveraging trends for continuous improvements.
- Participate in company strategy, budgeting, and collaborative efforts with other departments to align products with customer needs.
- Manage the engineering budget including capital for tooling and provides technical representation at industry events.
