Requirements

Must:
- High School diploma or equivalent, or experience in a hotel or related field is required. - Preferred: at least three years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field. - Trade school or college coursework in a relevant area is beneficial. - Previous supervisory experience is preferred. - Flexibility and willingness to work long hours as needed. - Capability to exert in excess of 100 pounds occasionally, over 50 pounds frequently, and over 20 pounds constantly to move objects. - Demonstrated warmth and friendliness in demeanor at all times. - Effective verbal and written communication skills with all staff and guests in an attentive, friendly, and service-oriented manner. - Proficient in listening, understanding, and addressing concerns from employees and guests. - Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental responsibilities to meet deadlines. - Approach all interactions with guests and employees in a courteous, attentive, and service-driven manner. - Attendance at all required hotel meetings and training sessions is essential. - Regular compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards regarding attendance, which will vary based on hotel needs. - High standards of grooming and personal appearance, including wearing the appropriate uniform and name tag. - Adherence to Highgate Hotel standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations. - Focus on productivity, identifying issues, and contributing to solution implementations. - Effective problem-solving skills, including anticipation and prevention of issues. - Ability to understand and apply complex information from various sources to achieve objectives. - Willingness to cross-train in other hotel-related areas. - Commitment to maintaining confidentiality. - Proactive in anticipating the needs of guests and operations. - Flexibility to undertake additional duties as assigned by management.

Responsibilities

- Conduct repairs on the hotels air conditioning systems, including changing filters, cleaning coils, and replacing motors. - Execute preventive maintenance on all equipment such as boilers, chillers, HVAC, electrical systems, etc. - Take necessary readings from equipment. - Test cooling towers and document findings. - Replace and program televisions as necessary. - Change light switches, receptacles, bulbs, and fixtures accordingly. - Perform furniture repairs as needed. - Replace and fix pumps. - Carry out plumbing repairs such as unclogging drains, changing washers, and adjusting fittings. - Read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams. - Trace and repair various water lines. - Troubleshoot and fix kitchen appliances. - Maintain repair and preventive maintenance logs. - Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes in all maintenance work. - Test, clean, and perform repairs on swimming pools and spas. - Paint designated areas as required. - Repair and finish drywall. - Fix various wall coverings. - Repair and program electronic lock systems for the hotel. - Assist in supervising other engineering team members. - Help schedule preventive maintenance activities as required.
