HPC Systems Engineer

- Architect and operate a robust Kubernetes platform - Design, deploy, and manage highly available RKE2 Kubernetes clusters, including multi-control-plane environments with stable etcd quorum - Oversee Kubernetes version upgrades and ensure compatibility, alongside managing cluster certificate authorities and trust chains - Manage the complete lifecycle of Kubernetes nodes and operate container runtimes like containerd - Tune kubelet behavior, manage resource pressure, and maintain consistent node configuration across all environments - Design and implement Kubernetes networking, including network policies for workload isolation - Manage ingress controllers and DNS configurations as part of Kubernetes networking - Enforce security best practices through RBAC, admission controls, and pod security standards - Conduct routine systems administration and apply necessary STIGs and OS maintenance to ensure compliance - Integrate Kubernetes with enterprise identity services and enable SSO with CAC/MFA support - Manage Kubernetes storage solutions, integrating S3 object storage and leveraging CSI drivers - Operate and maintain CI/CD infrastructure to support developer workflows - Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems - Lead incident response and perform capacity planning, maintaining operational runbooks - Architect for high availability, defining RPO/RTO, and implementing backup, restore, and failover procedures - Integrate Kubernetes workloads with HPC schedulers and enable secure job submission and identity mapping
