Must:
We require that you hold an active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance, specifically TS/SCI with Polygraph, prior to your start date. U.S. citizenship is a necessity, as only U.S. citizens qualify for a security clearance. Typically, candidates should have a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) along with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. Additional skills we look for include experience in object-oriented software design and development using Java in a Linux environment, proficiency with unit testing tools (e.g., JUnit), and familiarity with scripting languages such as Perl or Python. Experience in an Agile/DevOps setting is also important.
Responsibilities
In the role of Principal Java Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and sustain advanced software applications for our Satellite Ground Systems. Your tasks will involve collaborating closely with systems engineers, hardware designers, and other software developers to ensure the delivery of reliable and high-performance software solutions. Additional responsibilities may include:
- Designing, implementing, and testing Java-based applications for satellite ground systems.
- Working with cross-functional teams to establish software requirements and specifications.
- Modifying existing code as necessary.
- Ensuring software performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Participating in software design reviews, code evaluations, and system integration efforts.
- Contributing to the attainment of program and project milestones under the guidance of your immediate supervisor.
- Adhering to established software processes and procedures, including development documentation, maintenance, and management of operations concepts and requirements.
- Staying informed about the latest advancements in Java and satellite technology to drive innovation.
