Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree or Technology degree in Engineering or a related area, or equivalent (4 years job-related experience)
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, with an additional 2+ years or a Masters degree preferred
- Qualified Master Training Specialist
- Proficient in S1000D for developing and publishing Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals
- Skilled in preparing documentation in formats such as .doc, .PDF, HTML, and XML/SGML-tagged online and IETM
- Familiar with military documentation and DoD specifications including MIL-STD-3001, MIL-STD-38784, MIL-STD-24784, MIL-STD-40051-2C
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Word and Excel), XMLSpy, MS Visio, and PowerPoint
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledgeable about military/commercial requirements and specifications
Responsibilities
- Assist in defining, reviewing, and analyzing system requirements for enhancements and modifications
- Provide input to project or program plans and deliverables
- Review, develop, and modify procedures and products for one or more Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) functions
- Review and provide feedback on draft maintenance documents and technical manuals
- Validate test procedures during testing events both in labs and aboard submarines, which may involve shift work
- Create operations and maintenance procedures for technical manuals and training documents
- Travel to support Navy customers in a lab-based environment
- Work with technologies that are not only advanced but often classified
- Collaborate with a team of innovative thinkers focused on exploring new possibilities
- Seize opportunities for continuous learning and professional development

We are seeking a talented Technical Writer to join our Engineering team in Manassas, Virginia. This position is a Contract to Permanent role, offering a competitive salary between $45 and $48 per hour, with standard working hours from 9 AM to 5 PM.
