Requirements
Must:
- Strong hands-on experience supporting macOS within an enterprise environment.
- In-depth knowledge of macOS configuration, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and security measures.
- Familiarity with commonly used macOS tools, logs, and diagnostic techniques.
- Fundamental understanding of enterprise networking principles applicable to endpoint support.
- Proficient in troubleshooting Wi-Fi, VPN, DNS, DHCP, firewall, and proxy-related issues affecting macOS devices.
- Practical experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, AppleScript, or Automator.
- Capability to create or adjust scripts for installations, configurations, troubleshooting, or reporting.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to assist demanding end users.
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfort in collaborating with Service Desk, Windows, Network, Security, and Engineering teams.
- Systematic approach to diagnosing and resolving technical issues utilizing logs, diagnostics, and testing methods.
- Ability to identify recurring challenges and contribute to sustainable solutions rather than temporary fixes.
- Experience supporting Windows endpoints (including SCCM and Intune) is a valuable plus.
- Background in hybrid or mixed-OS enterprise environments is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for macOS users, both remotely and on-site.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, and application issues on macOS devices.
- Support user productivity tools, peripherals, printers, displays, docking stations, and collaboration software.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues including Wi-Fi, VPN, Bluetooth, DNS, and general network access.
- Execute macOS installations, upgrades, configurations, and ongoing maintenance.
- Adhere to security best practices and assist in enforcing macOS security measures.
- Deliver clear, user-friendly communication and guidance to both technical and non-technical users.
- Collaborate with Service Desk teams to manage escalations and recurring problems.
- Contribute to macOS engineering initiatives defined by the central architecture and engineering team.
- Assist with standard builds, tooling enhancements, and endpoint management improvements.
- Utilize scripting and automation to decrease manual effort and enhance reliability.
- Help document procedures, troubleshooting processes, and known issues.
- Provide operational insights to architects and engineers based on real-world support experiences.
Description
We are seeking a Mac Desktop Support Engineer to join our team in Boston, Massachusetts, on a contract basis. In this role, you will provide hands-on technical support for macOS devices and users within an enterprise setting, ensuring a seamless and secure macOS experience. You will engage primarily in end-user support while also collaborating with our dedicated architecture and engineering team to drive continuous improvement initiatives. We offer a competitive hourly rate of $50 - $51, regular work hours from 8 AM to 5 PM, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, and a 401K plan based on eligibility.
