Requirements
Must:
- Proven experience in leading an engineering team
- Strong background as a senior engineer with recent hands-on coding experience
- Previous roles as a player-coach, technical lead, or engineering manager
- Proficient in managing complex systems and debugging in production environments
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results quickly without compromising quality
- Excellent communication skills with a leading by example approach
- Strong sense of accountability and action-oriented mindset
- Experience in early-stage or rapidly growing startups (preferred)
- Familiarity with B2B SaaS or data-intensive systems (preferred)
- History of progression from player-coach to full-time engineering manager (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Dedicate approximately 50% of your time to reviewing and deploying production code
- Develop robust systems and processes that can scale effectively
- Take full ownership of delivery from planning through execution to quality assurance
- Mentor and lead engineers through one-on-one sessions, constructive feedback, and career development
- Set the technical standard and elevate the teams performance
- Collaborate closely with Product to transform unclear requirements into implemented features
- Quickly resolve engineering obstacles and make practical trade-offs
- Conduct agile sprint ceremonies with a focus on delivery rather than unnecessary formalities
- Make architectural decisions that optimize for both speed and scalability
- Recruit, onboard, and acclimate new engineers as the team expands
Description
We are seeking an Engineering Manager who excels as both a coder and a leader within our high-performing team based in San Francisco, California. This permanent role offers a competitive salary ranging from $200,000 to $300,000 per year, with working hours from 9 AM to 5 PM. We are dedicated to building, shipping, and taking ownership of results, rather than merely managing processes. Youll play a vital role in not only writing production code but also guiding and mentoring our engineering team.
