Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Over 10 years of practical experience with IEC CIM (61970, 61968, and/or 62325).
- Solid knowledge of electric utility operations.
- Proficient in logical and physical data modeling methodologies.
- Understanding of UML, relational modeling, and semantic modeling principles.
- Experience mapping operational systems such as WAMS, WACS, and MSCS.
- Background in supporting utility data lakes or analytics platforms like AWS or Databricks.
- Familiarity with RDF, OWL, semantic graphs, or knowledge graphs.
- Knowledge of ESRI Utility Network, Oracle Utilities, or similar utility systems.
- Experience with metadata management and data catalog tools.
- Insight into utility regulatory and compliance standards.
- Exceptional communication abilities.
- Capable of working independently or collaboratively with a team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and sustain CIM-based logical and physical data models that align with IEC standards (61970, 61968, 62325).
- Generate and oversee CIM Profiles (UML, RDF/XML, JSON-LD) customized for utility applications.
- Analyze and implement CIM extensions for utility-specific requirements including distribution, transmission, DER, and markets.
- Maintain semantic consistency across systems by leveraging CIM as the canonical data model.
- Aid in system-to-system integration design efforts.
- Map source-system schemas to CIM classes, attributes, and relationships.
- Facilitate analytics and AI initiatives by aligning operational and business data into analytics-ready structures.
- Support data-lake and lakehouse architectures with carefully curated CIM-based data formats.
- Preserve business and technical metadata, definitions, and interrelations within a data catalog.
- Establish and uphold data standards, naming conventions, and modeling best practices.
- Engage in data governance efforts, including stewardship assessments and change control processes.
- Assist in defining data quality rules and validating semantics.
- Review outstanding items and modeling requests for data lake ingestion and integration.
- Collaborate with data engineers and subject matter experts to comprehend source-system data.
- Validate transformation logic to ensure it aligns with CIM semantic objectives.
- Participate in discussions related to architecture and integration design.
- Confirm that curated data models are both analytics-ready and consistent.
- Specify and manage business definitions and technical metadata.
- Identify and solve any semantic or data quality challenges.
- Document modeling decisions and take part in governance evaluations.
