Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field with experience in control systems design and implementation.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing automation, industrial controls, or production testing environments.
- Proven track record in programming and troubleshooting PLCs and HMIs within an industrial or manufacturing context.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining LabVIEW applications for automating testing systems and data acquisition.
- Practical experience in designing, constructing, and troubleshooting electrical control panels for systems up to 480 VAC, both single-phase and three-phase.
- Solid understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 79 electrical safety regulations.
- Proficient in creating and maintaining electrical schematics with AutoCAD Electrical.
- Familiarity with version control tools for automation and testing software projects.
- Excellent troubleshooting capabilities in relation to sensors, instrumentation, analog and digital signals, field devices, and electro-mechanical systems.
- Strong collaborative skills to support manufacturing environments and internal as well as external teams.
- Knowledge of industrial networking, specifically TCP/IP over Ethernet.
- Understanding of safety aspects related to compressed and flammable gases.
- Experience in integrating instrumentation and mechanical components (such as sensors, pumps, valves) into automated systems.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, focusing on technical documentation.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time based on business needs.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or qualified U.S. Person as per ALU 22CFR 120.15, with potential requirements for obtaining DOD security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and associated automation hardware for production testing processes.
- Work collaboratively with diverse teams to ensure effective integration of controls with mechanical systems.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
- Support the installation, commissioning, and testing of control systems to guarantee compliance with industry standards and safety protocols.
- Design, build, and maintain electrical control panels for manufacturing and testing systems, including compressor control solutions.
- Enhance production uptime by addressing test system challenges and applying corrective measures.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives for test systems to boost reliability, repeatability, and overall throughput, while assisting in the validation of new or modified test frameworks.
- Create and update electrical schematics and panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Ensure that control systems meet all relevant electrical codes and standards, including NFPA 70 and NFPA 79, while supporting systems using single- and three-phase power up to 480 VAC.
- Develop, maintain, and manage version control for automation and testing software using source code management tools, ideally Git.
- Program and uphold LabVIEW applications to streamline testing operations and data collection processes.
- Provide technical assistance to various departments, including Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Control, Purchasing, and Field Service, by addressing system performance inquiries and troubleshooting issues.
- Conduct mechanical and electrical troubleshooting for control systems, focusing on sensors, analog signals, and field devices.
- Assist with basic industrial networking communications, such as TCP/IP over Ethernet, for control and testing systems.
- Contribute to instrument selection and integration, involving sensors, pumps, valves, and other related mechanical components.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
