Requirements
Must:
- Extensive expertise in managing Red Hat Linux environments for those with a focus on Linux administration.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in both Linux and Windows environments adhering to strict security and compliance standards; for Windows roles, Linux experience is advantageous.
- Proficient mid-level knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, DHCP, server virtualization, and Active Directory.
- Familiarity with security community resources and evolving requirements is a plus.
- Capability to quickly adapt to shifting priorities, demonstrating initiative and ownership of assignments.
- Strong attention to detail complemented by excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, showcasing organizational skills.
- Competence in supporting Windows Servers, SAN & NAS storage, and ESX at a mid-level.
- At least 1 year of experience in Cloud Operations.
- In-depth understanding of secure network protocols, encryption standards, and VPN technologies pertaining to classified environments.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies and cloud-based classified solutions, such as government-approved cloud platforms.
- Acquainted with incident response methods, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning relevant to classified IT environments.
- Insight into automated monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms for proactive system management and compliance.
- Comprehension of configuration management and change control processes applicable to classified systems.
- Awareness of emerging cybersecurity threats and mitigation techniques for vital classified systems.
- Understanding of identity and access management (IAM) practices and privileged user controls within classified IT contexts.
- Advanced skills in systems integration, merging on-premises and cloud-based classified systems.
- Proficiency in performance optimization, capacity planning, and resource management for servers, networks, and applications.
- Strong analytical and diagnostic abilities for identifying underlying issues of complex system failures.
- Expertise in safely managing classified endpoints, mobile devices, and remote access solutions.
- Skilled in planning, implementing, and maintaining backup, archiving, and disaster recovery solutions tailored for classified environments.
- Excellent documentation capabilities for technical processes, system configurations, and compliance reports.
Responsibilities
- Operate autonomously with minimal supervision, prioritizing tasks and driving projects to completion.
- Lead medium- to large-scale projects and technology deployments for classified systems owned by government and contractors, focusing on solution design, architecture, and deployment.
- Assign, coordinate, supervise, and assess the technical work of colleagues; provide mentorship and technical guidance within the Classified IT team.
- Serve as the primary resource for escalation on platform-specific issues, offering advice on Windows or Linux-based infrastructure choices.
- Configure, maintain, and support classified servers, operating systems, applications, and network frameworks.
- Install, set up, and maintain Linux systems (e.g., RHEL 8), managing OS upgrades, software installations, service configuration, shell scripting, VMWare, and network storage solutions.
- Ensure the integrity, availability, and performance of classified data, voice, and LAN/WAN networks; identify problems, develop solutions, and guarantee successful execution.
- Analyze capacity and performance needs, initiating system expansions, upgrades, or migrations as required.
- Assess and suggest improvements to hardware, software, network designs, and infrastructure for enhanced functionality, security, and cost efficiency.
- Safeguard classified information and systems by implementing necessary security protocols and operational practices.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams in evaluating, customizing, accrediting, and deploying classified hardware and software solutions.
- Manage classified cloud-based systems, including deployment, administration, performance monitoring, and compliance checks.
- Facilitate classified data transfer operations according to established protocols and control standards.
- Maintain familiarity with policies, STIGs, NISPOM, NIST 800-53, ICD 503, ICD 1253, DAPPM guidelines, and Cyber Operational Readiness Assessment (CORA) requirements.
- Prepare networks, servers, and workstations for audits, documenting and reporting on technical configurations and controls.
- Act as an information resource for functional areas, providing consultation and training on classified voice, data, network, and system applications.
- Collaborate with other Information Services departments in the evaluation, adaptation, and implementation of IT infrastructure solutions.
- Follow ITIL best practices, including Change Management, Problem Management, and Service & Support standards.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
