Requirements

Must:
- Strong analytical abilities - Clear and effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal - Ability to collaborate efficiently in multi-disciplinary teams - Commitment to RANDs core values of quality and objectivity - Proven expertise in astronautical engineering with experience in spacecraft programs and research centers - Background in spacecraft systems and design, including a solid understanding of astrodynamics and propulsion - Familiarity with evaluating space systems, missions, and technology for concept development - Proficiency in advanced computer modeling and simulation tools - Understanding of model-based systems engineering principles and tools

Responsibilities

- Formulate research methodologies to tackle intricate policy and technical challenges - Conduct research employing a variety of rigorous quantitative and qualitative techniques - Analyze and summarize research findings to guide decision-making in space and defense policies - Present findings through comprehensive written reports, briefings, and presentations - Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and policy analysts - Evaluate current and prospective space systems, including satellites and missiles, in support of various sponsors - Carry out analyses in areas such as space systems performance, mission design, and missile defense - Utilize knowledge in spacecraft design, astrodynamics, propulsion, and related technologies
